西湖记十月十六日

　　昨夜散席后，又与适之去亚东书局，小坐，有人上楼，穿腊黄西服，条子绒线背心，行路甚捷，帽沿下卷——颇似捕房“三等侦探”，适之起立为介绍，则仲甫也。彼坐我对面，我视其貌，发甚高，几在顶中，前额似斜坡，尤异者则其鼻梁之峻直，岐如眉脊，线画分明，若近代表现派仿非洲艺术所雕铜像，异相也。

　　与适之约各翻曼殊斐儿作品若干篇，并邀西滢合作，由泰东书局出版，适之冀可售五千。

　　读E.Dowden《勃朗宁传》，我最爱其夫妇恋史之高洁，白莱德长罗勃德六岁，其通信中有语至骇至复至蠢至有味：——

　　“I Never thought of being happy through you or by you or in you，even your good was all my idea of good and is.”

　　“Let me be too near to be seen…once I used to be uneasy，and to think that I ought to make you see me.But Love is better than Sight.”

　　“I Love your Love too much.And that is the worst fault，Mybeloved，I can ever find in my love of you.”

　　谈明宣——她是抚堂先生的小女儿，今年九岁，颇明慧可爱，我抱置膝上，诵诗娱之。
